After graduating from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague in 1994, Ingmar began his career as a freelance photographer. In 1999, he was invited by publisher Readershouse Hearst to join the company as a staff photographer.
The years that followed were both intensive and formative. He travelled extensively, photographed a wide range of subjects, and gained valuable insight into the magazine publishing process. At the same time, he developed the areas that would become his core specialisations: automotive, portrait, travel, and documentary photography.
With more than twenty five years of professional experience for publications like Top Gear, Cavallino and Autoweek and manufacturers such as Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and Hyundai, Ingmar is a highly accomplished and versatile photographer. His work has also been featured in five published books and his automotive portfolio is represented in two further publications.
While Ingmar considers the appreciation of his clients to be the greatest measure of success, recognition from professional peers remains a source of pride. He won the prestigious Zilveren Camera (Silver Camera) twice, in 2004 and 2008, receiving awards in the Portrait Series and Arts & Culture categories respectively.
